More information about appreciate for Shale - Penguin Figurine - Harmony Kingdom Treasure Jest

    Name: adore For Shale
    Artist: Peter Calvesbert
    Item No: TJBL06
    Carving Date: 2005
    Edition Size: 1500
    Dimensions (Inches): 2.2 x 2.9 x 2.3
    Weight 6.3 ounces with box.

Peter’s inspiration for the 2006 Blue Box came from a news story about Adelie penguins that swapped sexual favors for nesting materials. Researchers reported that female penguins on Ross Island, 800 miles from the South Pole, got rocks to build nests by these somewhat unorthodox means. This limited edition box figurine portrays one of the more “experienced” penguins plying her trade. Unbeknownst to her, two inquisitive young penguins rummage through her bag, trying to guess at the strange contraptions within. The word “Adelie” is inscribed on the lid. The Adelie penguin was named after the wife of French explorer Durmont d’Urville, who led an expedition to the Antarctic in the 1830’s. The box interior contains a pair of eggs, as Adelie penguins lay two but generally only one chick survives.
