More information about Antique Phebe Hanaford Hardcover “Daughters of America or Women of the Century”

    As shown. See complete photos. Illustrated. 5.75” x 8.6” x 1.8”

No dust jacket but book in terrific condition.

Published by True & Co. Augusta, Maine

Consists of chapters by subject, including women reformers, inventors, lawyers etc. Mary Washington featured on intricate, elaborate rich-colored cover.

“Phebe Ann Hanaford (née Coffin; May 6, 1829 — June 2, 1921) was a Christian Universalist minister and biographer who was active in championing universal suffrage and women's rights. She was the first woman ordained as a Universalist minister in newly-released England and the first woman to serve as chaplain to the Connecticut General Assembly.”

Not positive the year, but between 1882 and 1900 I’d say. Showing no date, I’m apt to assume it’s a first edition/first printing. Can’t be sure.
